About this Divi
If a newborn or premature baby has too much bilirubin in its blood, it may see yellow (jaundice). This jaundice is treated with phototherapy. This involves placing the baby exposed under a lamp. The light from the lamp causes the excess bilirubin to leave the body through the stool and urine.
This Divi explains phototherapy to expectant parents. First, an animation is used to explain how excess bilirubin occurs. Then it explains how phototherapy causes bilirubin levels in the body to decrease.
Finally, the Divi also contains information about the rules of life during and after treatment.
