About this Divi
In esophageal cancer, part of the esophagus and part of the stomach may be removed during esophagectomy. With the part of the stomach that is left, a new connection is made between the esophagus and the intestines. We call this new connection a tube stomach.
After surgery, the digestive tract has changed. This can affect eating and drinking. For example, patients may experience dumping or reflux symptoms and may eat less because they are full more quickly. In this Divi, patients are first explained what a tube stomach is and what it looks like in their bodies. In addition, they are explained the effects of the tube stomach in everyday life - and what they can do to remedy any discomfort.
