Indiveo Inside: Bernard Plat

Bernard came in contact with Edwin de Boer (co-founder Indiveo) during his final interview for the web developer course. "Edwin wanted to sit down with me to talk about his ideas for Indiveo and the technical possibilities. I got excited by his ideas and that's actually how I stayed hooked."
Contributing to a social product
Bernard's interest in improving healthcare does not come completely out of the blue. His mother is a physician's assistant, so thinking along with patients is right up his alley. "Being able to give something to patients is really nice. It really is a social product and that's nice. In addition, the concept is also just very strong" says Bernard.
Ambassador of convenience
As a front-end developer, Bernard creates the front end, so to speak; that which customers and patients see. He thinks about features, buttons and experiences that customers and patients have when they use Indiveo. What is the user's journey and how are they guided through the application? You could say Bernard is an ambassador of ease of use. "As a developer, you are constantly thinking ten steps ahead. You think not only about what the program should be able to do, but also about what users want. You have to be able to put on the glasses of different target groups. I then ask myself the question: 'I am a patient now, what do I think of this?' or 'I am a communication specialist in the hospital now, how do I want the process to go and what information do I think is important?' That's important to take into account when thinking out new functionalities."
The bridge between technology and people
Besides coming up with new functionalities, Bernard is concerned with further developing existing functionalities and solving problems. For example, the program must be usable in any browser and on any type of device. "Because of all the functionalities and developments, the program becomes more and more complete and you have to take more things into account as a devoloper. Fortunately, I am not alone, we do it together and are a driven and close-knit team. Within our team I am a bit of the bridge between the technical side and the human side of Indiveo."
Freedom to develop
For Bernard, no workday is the same and building and contributing ideas to Indiveo suits him well. "Besides the fact that I get to do what I like, at Indiveo you also get a lot of freedom to develop yourself. Technology never stands still, so continuing to develop yourself is also very important. Working on a product that you have been with from the beginning also gives you extra satisfaction. You really see the product grow."
