The challenge
Some diagnostic tests in the MDL department require proper preparation. These preparations are not always clear to patients, which in the worst case scenario can prevent an examination from going ahead. Costly waste of time for patient and caregivers.
The MDL department wants to better prepare patients through the use of Indiveo.
The second challenge
Because a lot of time was always spent in the outpatient clinic explaining different forms of sedation (lowering a patient's consciousness) and the scheduled examination, the department wondered if Indiveo could play a role in shaping these sedation consultations in a new and efficient way. This would free up more time for nurses.
The department set the goal of replacing part of the sedation consultations by using indiveo in this informational process. Using visual education, they wanted to replace 50% of the consultation hours.
Approach and result
First, together we set up the MDL board. On this board, all available Divis were placed and linked to the correct route information. In parallel with the set-up, the Divi light and moderate sedation was custom developed.
This Divi provides a lot of information about the different forms of sedation. Because all of Indiveo's information is modular, the Divi can be linked to various image narratives available to the department. These include various endoscopies such as gastroscopy, colonoscopy and sigmoidoscopy. The sedation Divi can also be used, for example, during a bronchoscopy or an EBUS examination.
With the deployment of Indiveo on the MDL department in the MCL and the reorganization of the sedation consultation, the department has achieved a reduction of 40 hours of nursing support per week. Nurses can again assist these freed up hours in the treatment room.
