Replaced information files hip and knee replacements
The challenge
The department came with a clear goal, which was to replace the current Patient Information Files (known as PIDs) for total hip and knee replacement with a digital solution. This required converting the two PID folders (both containing about 32 pages) to Divis.
In doing so, the department wanted to reorganize the informational consultation that was given at these folders and make a process change.
Approach and result
After carefully analyzing the content of the PIDs, we decided to develop four image stories: the hip joint, the knee joint, hip surgery and knee surgery. We organized these image stories into 2 Divis: total hip replacement and total knee replacement. In addition, we knew how to cleverly group the information and add images which greatly reduced the number of words and made the information clear.

"Converting preparatory information from a total hip and knee surgery to Indiveo has freed up more hands to provide quality care to the patient during an admission to the nursing ward. And the patient is even better informed."
- Marit Wagenaar, Unit Head of Department of Orthopedics and Trauma Surgery
The result of the translations to visual Divis is that the printing costs of these PID folders have been completely eliminated. This saves the department €6,504 per year.
In addition to printing costs, reducing consultation hours freed up 400 hours (0.26 FTE) of nursing formation/year were freed up.
