About this Divi

Dialysis requires access to the bloodstream. In most cases, a shunt is used for this purpose. A shunt is a subcutaneous connection between an artery and a vein in your arm. Pressure from the artery creates higher pressure in the vein. The vein starts to expand and the vessel wall becomes firmer. The blood in the vein starts to flow faster.

In the Divi "a shunt in hemodialysis," patients are explained what a shunt is and how the surgery is done. In addition, patients are explained what they can and cannot do after receiving the shunt.
